Millennials and Financial Health: our conference presentation

This study investigates antecedents that influence Millennials’ desire to seek help with their finances. A better understanding of their tendency could support universities and employers in helping bring out the best in Millennials, and reap the benefits of improved academic and work place outcomes.
We surveyed 488 college students; 97% of them have some degree of stress over their finances.
Our results show that financial stress alone is not enough for students to act; their gender, levels of subjective knowledge, grit, self-efficacy and issue involvement are associated with their tendency to seek help with their finances. Implications for how universities and employers can work together to apply a “positive lens” when devising interventions are discussed.
